Most people don't know the difference. And EPA has to ensure that efficiency is defined as "thermal" not "combustion."Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8511144021300330801.post-79413505601054027122014-04-30T11:59:22.462-07:002014-04-30T11:59:22.462-07:00Your concerns about jobs and businesses are on eve...Your concerns about jobs and businesses are on everyone's minds and very important. We think this could have a positive impact on jobs in the hearth industry, but some businesses will lose jobs and others will gain them. To your last point, I think there is lots of research showing richer people tend to have a much larger carbon footprint because they tend to have bigger homes, take more flights, buy more stuff and generally use more energy. That is certainly true with household energy consumption. Would be very interested to see any other trends.Alliance for Green Heathttp://www.forgreenheat.orgnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8511144021300330801.post-32878263380207446302014-04-30T11:03:40.180-07:002014-04-30T11:03:40.180-07:00I don't see anything that reverses exemption o...I don't see anything that reverses exemption of gas and coal burners and I would like to know who is going to pay for all of this. In light of the fact that at least one manufacturer has closed their doors (Thelin Hearth Products) and some retailers as well I am not supportive of this nor do I believe is the HPBA. Obviously our stoves are already beating the proposed 1.3 gramps per hour as a non cat stove but my biggest fear is that this will close more businesses. I believe the best thig we an do to help the environment is stop creating more people living in the poverty zone as by nature poor people are hard on the environmentUnforgettable Fire LLChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05348232607567356346noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8511144021300330801.post-7983565847961881682014-04-30T09:49:38.079-07:002014-04-30T09:49:38.079-07:00Begreen,

I expect the EPA will be very receptive to that, as would manufacturers. We understand some states are including comments like that as well. Poor stove operation also can contribute, especially if the stove is run too cool. The same can be said for burning poorly seasoned wood. Perhaps another requirement should be adequate documentation of annual maintenance procedures, running temperature, thermometer location, and wood moisture measurement to all stove manuals.
